A Prefeitura de São José dos Campos iniciou a construção da cobertura retrátil na piscina do Centro Esportivo do Jardim Morumbi, que fica na região sul da cidade. Esta será a primeira piscina pública do município a receber tal estrutura.
A obra, executada pela empresa DFA Construções e Engenharia Ltda-ME, terá um custo de R$ 1,7 milhão e está prevista para ser concluída em cinco meses.
A nova estrutura contará com placas em policarbonato solar translúcido na parte superior, com tratamento UVA e UVB, e portas de correr na parte inferior, permitindo a abertura do espaço. O material utilizado será acrílico de alta resistência, com 95% de transparência natural, proteção UVA e UVB, e alta resistência a impactos e riscos.
A piscina do Centro Esportivo do Jardim Morumbi é uma das mais movimentadas de São José dos Campos, com 761 alunos matriculados nas aulas gratuitas de natação, hidroginástica e no programa pais e filhos.
Durante o último Projeto Verão, realizado de outubro a março, a unidade foi a que atendeu o maior número de pessoas entre as 12 piscinas públicas abertas para o lazer da comunidade, com um total de 7.911 atendimentos.
